Elfin Market is a P2P lending disruptor offering fair and flexible credit. Their unique selling point is total flexibility on borrowing, with iOS and Android apps serving as a core point of application process, withdrawals and repayments.

PROBLEM

Lack of Design System meant engineers had to build most of the front-end from scratch, delaying releases of new features. Inconsistencies between iOS and Android further added to the problem.

When I joined Elfin Market they already had a beta version of the app running, which was mostly designed by founders and help of external designer. With rapid growth in mind, the goal was to develop the app to have core functionality, which could not be possible without an established Design System of components. Working closely with iOS and Android developers, 3 of us built a system that worked in existing flows and scaled to new features.

Noticing few repeating patterns in a financial app environment, we've developed a few more complex components. These spanned across multiple user journeys.

Establishing a solid foundation for Elfin Market's product was crucial for their plans of expansion. A few key wins:

    Visually defined colors, typography, spacing, icons and images established Elfin Market's brand and increased trust.

    Using mostly prebuilt components meant we could ship features much faster.

  • 03 Code and design alignment

    Having one source of truth on Figma meant less miscommunication.
